When looking to make your final choice wear OS Smartwatch, there’re tons to choose from. While relic and its sub-names dominate the chart, MOBVOI delivers unique features and styles with its Tick Watch range making it a valuable competitor.
Today, I am going for Tickwatch Pro 2020 review, here you can check my thoughts on this Smart wearable.
TicWatch Pro 2020 Review With Design
This watch is pretty fine-looking, decent built, and albeit rather a bulky watch. The frame of the TicWatch Pro 2020 is primarily made out of plastic with a stainless steel bezel around the screen and a good aluminum back. The mishmashes materials here place the watch somewhere among the lavish all-metal Smartwatch and the full plastic sports variants.
Using the combination of metal and plastic has kept this smartwatch lightweight despite its good sizable body, also making it durable. In fact, it has an IP68 water rating and is certified by MIL-STG-810G. In other words, it’s capable to withstand high temperature, dust, shock, and even supports swimming.
Along with the bezel, the Tic-watch Pro 2020 features 2 metal accent keys on the side section. Unfortunately, neither of the 2 keys features as a scroll wheel, though, the top one’s texture would make you think otherwise.
Another way Tic-Watch Pro positions itself among sports watches and premium Smartwatch is with its soft and smooth silicone band. If you’d prefer a premium metal or leather band, MOBVOI does not offer one. The band material of TicWathc Pro 2020 is a kind of hybrid leather of 22mm which will fit perfectly and it’s simply swappable.
Layered Display by TicWatch Pro 2020
The Tickwatch Pro 2020 has a similar display as the original model, which is a fine thing. The OLED panel of the watch is crisp and gets enough brightness, and has the best viewing angles even in high sunlight. The Gorilla Glass three protection help round out the Smart watch’s over durability.
The OLED panel of the timepiece features an always-on display mode, but unlike other models, this series has a smarter solution – a double-layered display. Sat on the peak of the OLED panel is a low-power FSTN (Film Compensated Super Twisted NEMATIC) LCD display.
This transparent display of the watch appears permanently when the watch is set to Essential feature or when battery juice reaches extremely low levels. Its great use though is in a smart mode that causes the LCD to kick in whenever the Smartwatch is idle.
The LCD is far less useful when you need to use Smart features, and it only shows the current time, a heart rate indicator, set counter, but it helps expand battery performance. It also has a retro virtual watch vibe, but they’re not like a cheap smartwatch.
TicWatch Pro 2020 – Performance
The smartwatch runs the aging Snapdragon 2100. I know that is going to be let down for many of you and I was concerned as well. Though, on the plus part, it does have one GB of Ram, which in my view, makes more of a difference in smart wear OS than the latest processor.
Wear OS looked to shutter way less with this Ram and felt blatant smooth most of the time. It might not pack the newer and best processor, but at least you would not feel like you are using the last-gen watch while wearing TicWatch Pro 2020.
I very impressive GPS that is built-in in the fitness smartwatch from TicWatch. I found that it automatically connects to GPS when not connected to a smartphone. The TicWatch Pro 2020 can detect signals in just 5 seconds on average, that’s so fast.
User experience With TicWatch Fitness SmartWatch Pro 2020
My whole time spent with this watch has been a highly pleasant one. For the past couple of weeks, I have worn it daily and I have been mostly satisfied with the TicWatch Pro 2020. It has been amazing for all I usually use the smartwatch for, such as notifications, track fitness, and controlling media playback.
Speaking of fitness tracking, I was very impressed by the step counter mode. I have tried many different smartwatches and brands but none of them were all that perfect at counting steps. For that reason, I’ve stuck with a FitBit Smart Band worn of the wrist for years now.
When comparing the step counter feature on the Tic Watch Pro with my Fit Bit. I was shocked to see the result of how consistently close it was. So much so, that stopped comparing each other and just started using TicWatch Pro 2020 instead. Due to I prefer TicWatch’s style.
In the end, my single issue with the user experience came from the side keys. Do not get me wrong, the keys work well and have a satisfying click, but there are only 2 and no scroll wheel. Having a crown with a scroll wheel and 2 customizable keys is one of the finest things about the present gen of wearing OS.
Without having these features, the user experience is still decent, but it just comes up slightly short, with overall at this price it is the best smartwatch for men.
